General Practice under pressure

Warfarin Monitoring

Who do I see?

Treatment Room Nurse/ Practice Nurse

Advice:

If you are taking warfarin blood thinning tablets, we offer our monitoring service. Bloods are taken, using a finger prick method and analysed with a coagu-check machine which means you will obtain your results straight away. We use a computer software program which means you will then be given your new recommended dose at the appointment. We do still sometimes need to take a venous blood sample depending on the reading or whether you are due your annual FBC (full blood count).
